Adam Collarile

Owner and Head MMA Instructor

Adam graduated Dobbs Ferry High School in 2006 after winning an all section championship in Wrestling. Shortly after, he began training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial arts at a local school in lower New York.

In 2008, Adam moved to Hilo, Hawaii to pursue the Martial Arts and to attend college at the University of Hawaii. It is there he would meet multiple time Jiu Jitsu World Champion and 2x UFC World Champion BJ Penn and his Academies fight team - Boss MMA lead by Black Belts Ross Ebanez and Chad Ha’o.

Under the tutelage of BJ Penn and over the next 8 years, Adam fought his way to the top of the rankings going undefeated and becoming the #1 ranked Amateur Lightweight in the State.

On July 31st, 2015 Adam made his Professional MMA debut and entered the rankings when he stepped into the ring against #4 professionally ranked Hawaiian fighter, Isaac Hopps. Adam finished the fight in the first round.

Adam's time in Hawaii wasn’t only spent in the ring however. His passion for teaching and helping local kids was discovered. Over this 8 year period, Adam worked exclusively with the Hawaii Youth Foundation, forming the Prodigy Wrestling team and helping the troubled youth of Hawaii find an outlet through the Martial Arts. Many of these kids went on to win Hawaii State and National Wrestling championships, and are currently attending College.

Later that year (2015), Adams accolades began to get noticed outside of Hawaii. He was contacted by Wade Rome, a Jiu Jitsu Black Belt and one of the founders of the world renowned Martial Arts gym - American Top Team. It wasn’t long until Adam made the move to Florida to begin his training with Wade and the World Champion Fighters that American Top Team produced. Here, Adam found his passion for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, earning his Black belt under Wade Rome and Ricardo Liborio.

Adam would go on to continue in his MMA career, obtaining a current contract after defeating top Russian fighter, Sodik Ismoilov under the bright lights of Ring of Combat. Adam would also be watched nationally on the famous UFC Fight Pass network in 2019, competing against top level athletes such as Dennis Bermudez on the Professional Grappling stage of Rise Invitational.

In late 2016, a very popular Martial arts gym in New York reached out to Adam to become their head Grappling and MMA instructor. Adam would spend the next 3 years here, helping to grow the gym, the team and producing competitive Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Boxing and MMA champions at all ages. It was here that Adam would fine tune his teaching skills and would shift his focus to learn the in’s and out of the very business he has set out to build today.

He started playing little league baseball at the age of seven thru high school where he attended Mount St. Michaels Academy. Here is where he was exposed to other sports and another level of competition. In his four years attending high school, he was a member of the football, baseball, and track team.

After graduating high school Michael attend St. Johns University in Queens, New York where he graduated with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. However, during his time in college, Michael was actively working and employed with Montefiore Medical Center and is still currently an employee. Putting his desire for sports aside during that time, finally in 2010, was in search of something to get back into shape and fill his free time. Attempting to join a martial arts school, just as a past time but, after a 3-month trial and a natural knack for the sport, he decided to extend his membership and continued training in the art of Jiu-jitsu. After a year of training and the skills developed in that period of time, Michael began competing, here is where his love for the art and the sport began to grow. Quickly becoming a steady competitor from that point on.

In 2012, he won his first local tournament and from there he continued to gain experience in this form of competition. In 2014, as a purple belt, Michael entered the International Brazilian Jiu jitsu Federation PanAm Nogi tournament. Winning this tournament, he took a leap of faith and traveled to California to compete in the World Championships that same year and win. In 2015, He was invited to the first Finishers/Show the Art Invitational, being the only purple belt in a pool of more experienced competitors, of brown and black belts. With another big win, it propelled him into a lot of high-level competitions to come. At the end of 2014, he was promoted to brown belt and began teaching. In the spring of 2014, he was invited to compete in the Eddie Bravo Invitational 7 (EBI) with some of the best grapplers in the world. Making it to the semi-finals.

After a few years of training Michael re-directed his focus on teaching as well as competing.  His love for the art grew in ways he never knew could happen and within a few years of teaching, and over 8 years of training, in spring of 2018 Michael earned his black belt from his professor 5x World Champion, Marcelo Garcia, becoming Marcelo’s 30th black belt in America.

With all his time invested into Jiu Jitsu, Michael has become a figure in the BJj community and is ready to give back to a sport that has given him new purpose, by giving back to his students. Having a wealth of knowledge, not only in Jiu jitsu but in competition on the highest level. His dedication in the art of Jiu jitsu has given him many opportunities to network, train, and meet many athletes in martial arts. Making it his now lifelong passion to help others find their way through life, as he did, with martial arts.  To build confidence and clarity, believe in yourself, overcoming various challenges in life, and to believe that anything is infinitely possible.
